WHAT IS
BOWEN THERAPY?
Bowen Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive form of bodywork that works with, rather than against, the body’s natural healing intelligence. Unlike traditional massage techniques that involve deep pressure or sustained manipulation, Bowen uses subtle, rolling movements over muscles, tendons, and fascia to stimulate the nervous system and reset patterns of tension and imbalance.
This technique activates the parasympathetic (rest and repair) response, encouraging deep relaxation and allowing the body to realign and heal from within.
What makes Bowen unique is its use of deliberate pauses between sets of movements. These pauses give the body time to integrate the work, often resulting in profound shifts with minimal input. It's a minimalist yet highly effective approach, suitable for all ages and especially beneficial for those with chronic pain, sensitive systems, or who may not tolerate deeper touch.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Fully Clothed & Comfortable
You’ll remain fully clothed during the session. Depending on your needs, you'll lie on a treatment table or sit in a chair.
Gentle, Targeted Movements
Your practitioner will apply light, rolling movements over specific muscles and fascia — no deep pressure or forceful adjustments.
Intentional Pauses
After a series of moves, the practitioner will step away for a few moments. These pauses are key to giving your nervous system time to respond and integrate.
Whole-Body Response
Though the touch is subtle, Bowen can initiate powerful changes throughout the body — often in areas seemingly unrelated to the original concern.
A Calming, Restorative Experience
Most clients report a deep sense of relaxation, and some even fall asleep during their session. You may feel immediate shifts or notice gradual changes over the following days.
