WHAT IS SOUND THERAPY?

Sound therapy utilizes the healing vibrations of sound to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being.

Our practitioners use singing metal bowls, also known as Tibetan singing bowls, to create soothing sounds and vibrations that resonate with the body's energy centers. Scientific studies have shown that sound therapy can slow brain waves, decrease heart rate, and reduce stress hormones, inducing a deep sense of calm and promoting healing. Experience the profound benefits of sound therapy and discover a pathway to inner peace and harmony.

Consider booking a sound therapy session when also visiting us for more quiet time in one of our sauna offerings. Combine the benefits of sound therapy with the detoxifying and relaxing effects of a sauna session for a truly holistic wellness experience.

SINGING BOWLS

Singing bowls, often called Tibetan singing bowls, are bowl-shaped instruments traditionally made from a bronze alloy containing copper, tin, zinc, iron, silver, gold, or nickel. The varying composition of metals contributes to the unique sound of each bowl.

To play a singing bowl, a practitioner typically uses a mallet, made of wood, felt, or leather, to either strike the bowl or gently rub it around the rim. This creates vibrations that produce a rich, resonant tone with harmonic overtones. The size and shape of the bowl, as well as the playing technique, influence the specific sounds produced. During a sound therapy session, the bowls may rest on the recipient's body, allowing the vibrations to be felt directly, or they may remain in the practitioner's hands or be placed around your body, near your head or feet, etc.

These sounds and vibrations are believed to have therapeutic benefits, promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and facilitating a deeper connection to oneself.

BENEFITS

Sound therapy is more than just a relaxing experience; it offers tangible benefits backed by scientific research. Studies have shown that the vibrations and frequencies produced by singing bowls can:

Slow brain waves:

Inducing a meditative state associated with deep relaxation and stress reduction.

Lower heart rate and blood pressure:

Promoting a sense of calm and reducing the physiological effects of stress.

Decrease cortisol levels:

Lowering the stress hormone, which can have positive impacts on mood, sleep, and immune function.

Stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system:

Encouraging the "rest and digest" response, which counteracts the effects of stress and promotes healing.

Beyond the physiological benefits, sound therapy tends to encourage quiet during a massage session. The immersive soundscape creates a tranquil atmosphere where both the practitioner and the client can focus on the healing experience.

If you're looking for less talking during your massage and a deeper sense of tranquility, sound therapy is an excellent option for you.
